By original
design and intention we are created by God as kings. Adam was a king and so are
we. Without a doubt there is no questioning the word of a king. Once a king
pronounces a decree it is automatically law and it cannot be reversed. God’s
word works in this manner as well, so by default our words carry the same
effect and power since we were created in his image and likeness —even though
we may sometimes be oblivious of how much power lies in our tongue.
The bible
says of God’s words:
‘’As the rain and snow come down from
heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth, and making it bud
and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so
is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will
accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10-11)
This is the
very nature of the word of God. It is true to the detail and cannot fail. Once
God pronounces something on behalf of a person or a nation, it will definitely
come to pass. God’s word can be a call to do the impossible; just like He
called Gideon to battle and lead Israel against the Midianites. Gideon was an
average young lad and the youngest in his father’s house; yet God called him a
‘Mighty warrior’ and this he became. The word of God came to Abraham with a
promise of an offspring, a son who will be a great nation. Even though Abraham
and Sarah were advanced in age, the miracle still occurred—the promise is
fulfilled even till this moment. There is absolutely no way God’s word can
fail. Never!
Jesus is the Word
‘’In the beginning was the Word, and
the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things was made that has been made.’’(John 1:1-3)
Jesus is the
Word and we know from the bible creation account that the entire world was
created by the word of God. That is to say by Jesus or through him all things
were created. As God spoke the word, the earth came into being. Everything
created today came about by the pronouncement of the word of God. Once it was released,
it accomplished that which it was sent forth for. The account in Colossians
explains deeper:
‘’For by him [ Christ Jesus] all things were
created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones
or powers or rulers or authorities (Colossians 1:16)
As
believers, we have Jesus inside of us in the Holy Spirit who is head over all
powers and authority (Colossians 2:9-10). Therefore we share in that authority
and power through the name of Jesus when we speak it. This is so because our Lord
and Saviour is seated at the right hand of God the Father in the heavenly realm far above all titles ,
authority and power and dominion and he has given us the right as sons of God
to share in this inheritance.(Ephesians 1:20-23, John 1:12-13).
Jesus says
in the fifteenth chapter of John verse 7-8:
‘’If you remain in me and my words
remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my
Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.’’
Jesus is
saying here that if we remain in him by faith; and have his words in us, we can
ask anything and it will be given us. The act of ‘asking’ implies a spoken word
or speaking the word. We need to speak the word in his name and expect to
receive that which we have asked for. All through Jesus’ ministry here on
earth, we can see the consistent use of the power of the spoken word whether He
was casting out demons or calming the storms of the sea. In the same manner,
since we believers have Jesus inside us through the Holy Spirit, we therefore
have the word of God and we can expressly speak the word to bring about the
desired; according to his will.
The Word is near you
From above
we can infer that as believers in the faith, we have Jesus inside of us. We can
also attest to the fact that Jesus is the Word. The word of God is near you and
you must recognise it to know how to use it.
The book of Romans chapter 10:8
tells us:
‘’But what does it say? ‘’The word is
near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’’ that is, the word of faith
we are proclaiming’’
I once
discussed in ‘The Glory of the New Covenant’’, one of my letters, the fact that
God had written his laws and words in our hearts so that we do not concentrate
on our works in worshipping him , but by
his grace through faith. The word of God is in our hearts we just have to start
using it to our advantage, affecting our world for the purpose of Kingdom
advancing.
Speak God’s
Language
In other to
speak God’s language effectively, we need to have three things in perspective:
1. Your specific need
2. God’s word of promise
3. Your faith
We speak
God’s language by speaking His words, His promises into our lives having in
mind that God is bound by his word. That is, God is faithful to the fulfilment
of his word.
The bibles
states in Numbers 23: 19:
‘’God is not a man, that he should
lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he promise and then
not act? Does he promise and not fulfil?
So on this
premise, we can rest assured that when we engage God in His promises, He will
definitely bring it to pass. As stated above, we have to have specific needs
that we need God to intervene on our behalf in this realm. Once we have that
settled, we can select God’s promises in the Bible concerning our needs and
through prayer—which is the means by which we speak God’s language—we can
present our specific needs and promises combined to God in unwavering faith.
It is
important to understand that the Power of the Spoken Word will take full effect
when our needs are specified, the promises of God are identified in the bible
and solid faith is applied. Consider this as sending a parcel abroad, filling
out the waybill is important but more important is the courier service that
will take your delivery to the desired destination. The waybill has the
specifics and God’s promises; prayer & faith is the courier service that takes your
delivery to God. When we are dealing with faith here, the bible is very
specific on how it should be like.
In
conclusion, we will absolve the desired nature of the measure of faith that
will ensure our delivery makes heaven and be sure that we apply them to our lives;
so that we can effectively speak God’s language.
‘’But when he asks, he must believe
and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and
tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the
Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. (James 1:6-8)
